Two Ph.D. Students in Arctic Environmental Sensing

Our big NSF project recently was awarded! Part of the Navigating the New Arctic program, one of NSF’s “Big 10 Ideas”, we’re exploring how the natural and built environments interact in Utqiagvik, Alaska. It’s a big, transdisciplinary project that includes local housing authorities, architects, CRREL, designers, data and social scientists, and more (and, of course, your friendly environmental scientists at UVA)!

We’re hiring two Ph.D. student on the project, see the ad below! Howie Epstein will be the lead advisor, and I’ll co-advise one student working on aquatic systems. This will be a big, cooperative project, though, and both students will likely interact with the whole team.

Contact Howie (hee2b@ virginia.edu) if you’re interested! I’m happy to field short questions, but applications and most inquiries should go through him.

UPDATE: Our dept has joined #GeoGRExit, and is no longer accepting GRE scores!
